As a kid growing up in the 1950s and 1960s, I loved staying up late watching the all-night movies on television. There’s something about sitting in a darkened room, when everyone else is asleep, escaping into the past by the flicker of black and white movies.

Did all of us sneak downstairs in the dark of night to watch Judy Garland/Mickey Rooney movies with the sound turned so low our noses had to touch the screen in order to avoid detection. Go boomers.
I never hid my fondness for old movies. I don’t believe in guilty pleasures. Whatever I like, I’m proud to admit. I still watch Andy Hardy movies now and then.
