I scratched my cornea and other parts of my left eye over a week ago, and I’ve been home with my eyes shut 98% of the time since last Monday trying to get the left eye healed. I can’t watch TV, use the computer or read. Sitting around without looking at things is very enlightening about how important sight is to my life. I totally crave doing little things I completely took for granted before. I can see out of my right eye, but it makes my left eye move, which hurts. My eye is hurting, so I need to stop writing and go back to resting it.

Yikes! That comes damn close to my Henry Bemis nightmare.
I hope it gets better soon, James.
That’s my favorite Twilight Episode. Normally a week off from work means tons of reading, but not this week. Luckily I had the new audio book production of Dune to keep my occupied.
I can imagine how horrible it must feel. I had chorioretinal inflammation about a year back, it hurt me to even look at things for two weeks.
I hope your eye gets better soon and you can get back to reading, blogging, and all the other things you love to do.

Oh man, I have been there and I feel your pain. I am so sorry that you are going through that and hope you heal very, very quickly! It works out well that you are someone who listens to a lot of books on audio. I hope you have some in the wings for this time of visual media blackout!
James, I’m sorry to hear about your eyes and the difficulties that you’ve been having. I hope for you a speedy recovery and I’m really glad it’s not permanent. it must’ve been scary and disorienting, especially since the written word is such a powerful thing for people who love to read. wow, it’s hard for me to imagine being without sight and I don’t really want to try.
Be well and try to be patient while you’re healing — all my best

Hope you recover quickly.
In the meantime, enjoy the audio books. I sometimes drive cross country rather than flying just to have an excuse to listen to one.
Good luck James. Get well soon. I know the pain – once got some sort of a fungus infection in one eye that shut the eye for days.
